An Exhibition of the Royal Family Tree

An exhibition of the Royal Family Tree designed and complied by Grange Genealogy will be held at All Saints Church Hall, Holm Lane, South Wingfield, DE55 7NY on

Saturday 18th September from 10am – 4pm

Sunday 19th September from 12 noon – 4pm.

The exhibition will include the family tree, showing all the family connected to Queen Elizabeth II and Price Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, going back to Queen Victoria. The chart shows all descendants and stretches to just over 8 meters in length. 

There is an accompanying guide book which includes indexes to everyone listed and gives some further details of each person and their immediate family. There will be copies for sale on the day and an opportunity to find out more about exploring your own family tree.

Admission £3 on the door.

All admission fees will be donated to All Saints Church.

      All Age Worship is back at St.Mary’s first Sunday of the month at 10 am for whole families to come to church together again.

    • 10:00 AM Classic Motorcycle Event at Crich Tramway Village

      On Sunday 3rd October, Crich Tramway Village in Derbyshire will host their 4th Annual Classic Motorcycle Day.

      Organised in conjunction with the Vincent H.R.D Owners’ Club, the event combines the passions of vintage trams and classic motorcycles offering a great family day out.

      Derwent Waste Management have generously sponsored the event for the fourth year.

      There will be trophies awarded for ‘Best British Motorcycle’, ‘Best International Motorcycle’, ‘Best Japanese Motorcycle’ and ‘Best Pre-war Motorcycle’ and ‘Best Scooter’ which will be decided by judges, while the public will have the chance to vote for ‘Best in Show’.

      The Old Bike Mart magazine will once again provide the cup for ‘Best Classic Motorcycle in Original Condition’.

      New for this year is an award for ‘Best Scooter’. Vincent H.R.D Owners’ Club organiser, Jon Lambley said:

      “The Vincent H.R.D Owners’ Club are keen to include all makes of motorcycles and scooters, and for all the various owners clubs to engage together in this celebration of two wheeled machinery from the last 120 years.”

      For motorcyclists on modern motor bikes, which can be parked in the car parks, there is a reduced entry price to the event of £12.50 for this day. Please ask for a voucher on arrival.

      Events Manager at Crich Tramway Village, Candi Bell said:

      “We’re delighted to be hosting our 4th Classic Motorcycle event again this year, which continues to be very popular with motorcyclists and families looking for an interesting day out. We have over 200 classic motorcycles booked in for this year and it’s great to see how much work has gone into maintaining them”.

      General admission costs £19.00 for adults, £16.50 for seniors, £11.00 for children, or £43.00 for a family ticket (two adults and 3 children). These prices include free return within 12 months (subject to opening dates and excluding the World War II events).

      The event runs from 10am – 5.30pm (last admissions 4pm) and vintage trams run from 10.30am to 5pm offering unlimited rides. Face coverings are required when riding the trams (unless medically exempt).

      SADLY THIS WALK HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO ILLNESS

      As part of the BBC’s CountryFile RambleActive Crich for Everyone have organised a Community Walk with foraging expert Brendon McDowell. 

      Fusion forager AKA Brendan McDowell is a Forest School leader, community grower, creative facilitator, mushroom enthusiast and forager. As a nature lover Brendan’s passion is to teach and inspire people to engage with the natural world. From learning to grow and cook vegetables and mushrooms, to searching out wild plants and fungi for food and craft.

      Join the gathering on Sunday 10 October, 2.00 pm at the corner of Top Hagg Lane, Fritchley.

      We will take a gentle stroll through Fritchley Meadows and into the woods and back and anticipate that the ramble will take around 2 hours.

      The event is free of charge, however, donations to Children In Need are welcomed.

      The ground is uneven and therefore unsuitable for wheelchairs and prams. Please wear suitable weather appropriate clothes and shoes.

      It promises to be an event for the whole community to enjoy, with art works made by members of the community, displayed alongside professional artwork by local artist collective ArtStand, who are holding an exhibition and art sale at the same time.

      The event is free of charge, suitable for the whole family and refreshments will be available.

      Following the success of the holiday activities in the Summer, we are pleased to say that we have organised two days of holiday clubs and an Adventure Day at Lea Green during the half term holiday this October.

      We are using the  funding from Derbyshire County Council, to subsidise the cost of the activities for all children. The activities are free for children who receive pupil premium.

      Booking opens tomorrow, Wednesday 6th October, for all children.

      The activities that we are running are:

      Two days of Holiday Clubs

      Premier Education will be running a Holiday Club for two days at Crich Junior School on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th October 2021. These Holiday Clubs have been extremely popular in the past.

      Due to the funding from Derbyshire County Council, the cost will be just £5.00 PER DAY and FREE for CHILDREN ENTITLED TO PUPIL PREMIUM. Lunch will be provided for each child attending every day as part of this price.

      The Holiday Clubs will run from 9:00 – 15:00 each day. The Clubs will be open to children aged 5 – 11. Children should bring a water container and some snacks for the day; they will not need to bring a packed lunch as this is provided.

      At the holiday club, children will take part in a wide range of activities including sports such as football, basketball, cricket, dodgeball and also some arts and crafts activities.

    • 10:00 AM Help needed to tidy up St Mary's Church Yard

      If you follow Crich Community Facebook chatter, then you will know that there has been quite a lot of comment on whether or not the grass is too long in St Mary’s churchyard. 

      St Mary’s PCC are talking to Amber Valley Council about the matter of who is responsible for managing the churchyard. 

      Meanwhile, there will be a work party day – open to all comers with their garden tools – on the morning of Saturday 30 October from 9.00 am and in the afternoon from 2.00 pm.  As it is Half Term on that day, children (supervised by their adults) are very welcome to join in!

      Bring your car along to Crich Fire Station on Sunday 31 October between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm for a Halloween themed charity car wash! All proceeds go to the wonderful Firefighter’s Charity.
