Happy Christmas from all at Crich Standard

On Thursday 19 th December, the now traditional carols round the tree event took place in Crich Market Place. Earlier rain had stopped and many people came out to enjoy a good sing and to reflect on the meaning of Christmas. The service was ably led by Rev. Ian Whitehead from St. Mary’s Church, supported by Pastor Chris Hand from Crich Baptist Chapel and by a bearded man in a red tunic who just happened to arrive in the fire engine at just the right moment!
This event is very much part of Crich life and has been running, with fantastic support from the fire service, for at least 30 years. No doubt somebody will be able to confirm exactly how long!
It is increasingly supported by the local businesses and provides an opportunity for friends and neighbours to come together for a lovely pre-Christmas social occasion, with the gathering around the tree as the focal point of the evening. The singing was, as always, accompanied wonderfully by players from Crich Brass.
