Young musicians invited to join Music Centre

by Geoff Brown

Flyer for S.E. Derbyshire Music Centre

The following message has been received from Luke Stanley, Chair of the South East Derbyshire Music Centre. They are looking for more people to join their groups, a great opportunity for all the budding young musicians and singers out there. If anybody wishes to learn more or to join them, start by visiting their website: www.SEDMC.co.uk

My name is Luke, I'm writing in my capacity as Chair for South East Derbyshire Music Centre (SEDMC). We're a local charity who provide a space for young people in Amber Valley and Erewash to make music.

Usually we have 200 members who take part on Saturday mornings in one of our many musical ensembles, ranging from Orchestras, chamber ensembles, guitar fusion groups to choirs and to people of all musical ability. But we're more than just about making music, we also provide a fun space for young people to be together and make friends!

It's safe to say that 2020 has been a bit of a challenge, but despite this, we were still able to put on a "virtual Concert" showcasing performances created during lockdown, culminating in a version of "sing" which you can see here: https://youtu.be/3hhMm0OLUa4

We've now been able to re-start our efforts and have turned to virtual methods to once again, make music and are hoping to create another virtual christmas concert later in the year.
