October Half Term Holiday Activties

October Half Term Holiday Activties

Thu Oct 28 09:00:00 2021

Following the success of the holiday activities in the Summer, we are pleased to say that we have organised two days of holiday clubs and an Adventure Day at Lea Green during the half term holiday this October.

We are using the  funding from Derbyshire County Council, to subsidise the cost of the activities for all children. The activities are free for children who receive pupil premium.

Booking opens tomorrow, Wednesday 6th October, for all children.

The activities that we are running are:

Two days of Holiday Clubs

Premier Education will be running a Holiday Club for two days at Crich Junior School on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th October 2021. These Holiday Clubs have been extremely popular in the past.

Due to the funding from Derbyshire County Council, the cost will be just £5.00 PER DAY and FREE for CHILDREN ENTITLED TO PUPIL PREMIUM. Lunch will be provided for each child attending every day as part of this price.

The Holiday Clubs will run from 9:00 – 15:00 each day. The Clubs will be open to children aged 5 – 11. Children should bring a water container and some snacks for the day; they will not need to bring a packed lunch as this is provided.

At the holiday club, children will take part in a wide range of activities including sports such as football, basketball, cricket, dodgeball and also some arts and crafts activities.

In order to book a place for your child please go to www.premier-education.com or click on the link below to go straight to the booking page for each venue. Parents of pupil premium children please use code WJM/100 to book for free. We will check with the school that any bookings made using this code are children who qualify for pupil premium funding. Any bookings made with this code for children who do not qualify will be cancelled.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact James Jennison, Area Manager, Premier Education. jjennison@premier-education.com

An Adventure Day at Lea Green

The Adventure Days at Lea Green, which we have organised over the last year, have been understandably very popular and we are delighted that we have been able to book another one for Wednesday 27th October 2021. (Please note it is not on a Friday, as they have been in the past.) As in the Summer, the day cost £10 per day and lunch and snacks will be provided. There is NO CHARGE for PUPILS WHO RECEIVE PUPIL PREMIUM.

The Days are open to children aged 6 to 13 years old. They start at 09.30 and end at 15.30.

To book a place for your child or children please ring or email the staff at the Glebe Centre in Crich, who are managing the bookings. The staff would prefer the bookings to be made by email, if possible.  The email address is office@crichglebefieldcentre.org but, if you are not able to email, the telephone number 01773 857894.

When you send in your email please include the following information:

  • The name(s) of the child(ren)
  • Their dates of birth
  • The school they attend
  • Whether the child is entitled to pupil premium
  • Home address
  • Your name
  • Your contact number
  • Any medical issues that the child(ren) may have
  • If you have any difficulties getting the child(ren) to Lea Green
  • Any other issues that the staff at Lea Green need to be aware of

The staff at the Glebe Field Centre will confirm whether your child(ren) have a place. There are only 24 places available this time and so booking quickly is advisable.

We do hope that your children will be able to join these activities. We are hoping that there will be more activities available in the second week of the Christmas holidays, so look out for more information about those in the coming weeks.

With best wishes

Glebe Field Centre and Crich Patients’ Participation Group.

Their different cultural heritage is a substantial and entertaining part of their show, with amiable, self-deprecating banter playfully drawing on and celebrating both the German and Brit stereotypes.

      Monthly Music Sessions: Comealong!

We are delighted to say that the music sessions that used to be held monthly, on the second Friday of every month, at the Wesleyan Chapel, Chapel Lane, Crich DE4 5BU have restarted. These sesions are organised jointly by the Wesleyan Chapel and Crich Area Dementia Friends. They are open to all.

With the restart, there is a new name. It has been decided to call the sessions “Comealong”. This reflects the inclusive nature of the sessions and also that, although, they are frequently, musical sessions, other fun activities can be included.

As always the sessions will start at 2.00pm and after the entertainment there will be a cup of tea, some cake and a chance for a chat.

So please “come along” and share this information with anyone you think might be interested.

    • 7:00 PM Ladder World - new musical for children and adults

Ladderworld is a new musical for children and adults by JKB Productions, with 18 original songs and a live band.

It tells the story of the adventures of Jack after a Golden Ladder appears in the sky. The rungs slide down to touch the grass and he feels compelled to climb it. At the top he finds himself in Ladderworld where he meets Santa Claus, Mrs Santa and Jill, who has also climbed the Golden Ladder. They find out that only children from Realworld can use the Magic which is needed to rescue Rudolf the Reindeer and Bushey the Chief Elf who invented the Magic Toy Machine. They have been kidnapped by the evil Goblins, led by Hobnoblin!

So, will they be able to use Magic? Will they rescue Rudolf and Bushey? Will they get the Magic Toy Machine back in time for Christmas Eve? Will children on Realworld get their toys at Christmas?
