Crich Heritage Meetings Cancelled for 2020

by Linda Philo

Crich Heritage Partnership logo

We are sorry to tell you that we have given up hope of any further Crich Heritage Meetings this year. This includes cancelling the AGM in November, fortunately the officers and committee are willing to carry on. The accounts will roll over to next AGM, which we hope will be November 2021.

Corinne has been working behind the scenes cancelling the speakers for this year, and mostly booking them in for next year so we have a full programme planned. We look forward to meeting you all back at the Glebe when it is safe to do so.

There is one more week for you to send in your favourite art work or craft piece to Clare Limb for display in the Community Art Sharing on 10th & 11th October at The Glebe.

We would like you to send in your favourite piece of art or craft that you made during lockdown. It can be in any genre or form (including digital art, photography, sculpture, needlework, pottery, poem, a dance, a song, whatever you like!). If you could email me a picture of what it is then that would be great clarelimb68@gmail.com.

Please accompany your entry with a few lines about what the piece means to you that you would be happy to share with other people who may view it.

If you would like to arrange for your artwork to be collected, or just want to chat through what you are thinking of submitting, then give me a call on 07813 049556.

All ages welcome!

Popalong Outdoors to continue during September

by Claire Ganthony

popalong volunteers

Following the success of Outdoor Popalong, which took place as part of the children's summer activities arranged by some members of the Crich Patient Participation Group, Popalong Outdoors will continue during September. Some popalong families and volunteers had been meeting each Friday online for a virtual singalong, but the first in person sessions were held at the end of August. These were such a success, that it is planned that they will continue throughout September and ways to support families as the weather changes and outdoor meetings become more difficult are being explored. More details will be shared here as plans are finalised.

Popalong meets in the garden of the Weslayan Chapel, on Chapel Lane, Crich each Friday during September. Sessions run from 9.30-11.30 and are for children up to 3 years old.

Sessions are held safely, with limited group sizes, social distancing amongst adults and hygiene measures in place.

PLACES MUST BE BOOKED.

Please contact Lynda Gray to reserve your place by emailing jimlynday.gray@btopenworld.com

Reduced Price for Nature Sessions

by Claire Ganthony

Children enjoying holiday activities

Stop Press! These sessions are now FREE of charge!

We have had a fantastic response to our fundraising appeal, and can now offer the Children’s Nature Connection sessions on Monday 17th and Monday 24th August at just £5 for the session. This should be a great opportunity to get children outside and engaged with nature!

Of course, safety is our highest priority. Course organisers have all completed risk assessments to ensure your children are safe. Please ask to see this if you are concerned.

The following measures will be in place:

  • Most of our sessions are outside, but we still expect people to observe social distancing
  • All participants will be expected to wash hands or use hand sanitiser before and after the session
  • All equipment will be cleaned before and after the session
  • Adults may be required to wear masks

Please bring your own drinks and remember sunscreen and hats for outdoor sessions.

To book onto the nature sessions, or for more information about them, please contact claire@growoutside.co.uk or 07960 249816.

Further information and booking details for all other activities can be found here

Crich Area Community Art Sharing Needs You!

Crich Area Community Art Sharing project Needs You!

During the global pandemic caused by Covid-19 people of the Crich Parish have found ways to express themselves and our lived-experience of lockdown through personal and collective art making as inspired by the Parish in which we reside.

Facebook groups such as Crich Area Photography Lockdown Project were created and thrived on themes that related to ‘A view from your window’.

The people of the parish have transformed into non professional artists through this process and have begun to view the world through a new lens, a lens of appreciating the world around us differently, such as the intricate beauty of the surrounding area or the key workers on the frontline of fighting the pandemic.

This has led us to produce individual and collective creative outputs unique to this moment in time. This has been one of the key ways by which we have all been able to get through this period of restricted movement and substantial anxiety and also a way for us to create a living history of our community’s response to the pandemic.

It is this creativity that we wish to celebrate in a community art sharing at The Glebe Field Centre on 11 October 2020 from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm. This sharing aims to lift the spirits of the whole community as we head into the darker days of next winter, reminding us of the creativity within us all.

The idea is that the sharing will be presented at a local venue on social distancing guidelines and be accompanied by a series of webinars led by members of the community whose expertise they wish to share with others.

We also plan for the sharing to be digitised so that it can have a greater reach, providing access to it to people who cannot or do not wish to attend it in person.

The sharing is by with and for the people of the Crich Area and is open to anyone to enter.

We would like you to submit the art that you have created in lockdown (entries limited to one per person).

If you would like to put forward an artwork please take a photograph or recording of it and email it to Clare Limb at the following email address: clarelimb68@gmail.com stating clearly your name and contact number as well as a short paragraph which tells the story behind the work.

Deadline for entries is 11 September 2020.

If you would like to be involved in helping put the sharing together then please get in touch with me at this email address clarelimb68@gmail.com

We are currently seeking funds for this project. If you would like to help us fundraise for it or would like to make a donation to the project please contact Andrea Kemp andrea@shift-together.co.uk

Stay safe,

Clare
