The CACN Community Award for 2009 has been given to Sylvia Taylor in recognition of her voluntary work in the community over many years.
Sylvia was secretary of Crich WEA for a long time organising and looking after all the adult education courses held in the village. This is a voluntary and often under-appreciated job. She retired from this post earlier in the year.
She is also: captain of the Cliff Inn Quiz Team (who were runners-up in the county championship last season); an active member of the Crich Ladies Reading Group; convenor of the Crich Family History Group and is a member of Crich Heritage Partnership.
Sylvia gets involved with organisations that enhance community life in the parish, never a passive member, always becoming enthusiastically involved with a great sense of humour. She was presented with the award at the AGM of the WEA, by CACN chairman David Billyeald, as a small thank-you from the community in appreciation of her voluntary work over many years.
